Before you use an offer
How Amex Offers usually works
Exact visibility, activation, redemption timing, and account eligibility can change.
- 1Open the Amex Offers section in an online account or the American Express App.
- 2Add the offer to an eligible Card before the purchase.
- 3Use the same enrolled Card for a qualifying purchase with the participating merchant.
- 4Rewards are applied to the account after American Express receives qualifying purchase information.
Eligibility note
American Express says only U.S.-issued consumer and business Cards may be eligible, while specific offers vary by Card, Card Member, and account history. Corporate, prepaid, reloadable, gift, and non-U.S. Cards are outside this guide unless American Express expressly designates them.
Stacking with card benefits
Amex Offers are separately enrolled offer rewards. Whether a qualifying purchase also earns the Card’s normal rewards depends on the Card agreement and the individual offer terms.
